Walks With Drew: Ya’xaik Trail

Across the street and to the east of the Fireside Motel and Overleaf Lodge is the Ya’Xaik trailhead. The trail is named to honor the American Indian tribe that inhabited this area and for whom the town of Yachats gets its name. In this video, Drew introduces you to a variety of plants, trees and mushrooms and also explains their life cycles. Enjoy exploring the trail as it winds through the forest, continues through the Gerdemann Botanic Preserve, and finishes back at the Fireside Motel.
